Bionicle Alternatives Essential Guide: Other

FACTIONS
Hand of Artakha
Information
   Leaders: Mallake, Turaga Mathus (formerly)
History
   Core Universe
Formed at the dawn of the Matoran Universe, the Hand of Artakha was dedicated to serving the will of Mata Nui and protecting the Matoran. After two hundred years of service however, it soon became apparent that the Hand was too undisciplined to serve its purpose and as such promptly disbanded. Some time later, the organization was reorganized as the Order of Mata Nui, led by Toa Helryx, while the Hand's former leader Mallake was banished to the Pit.
Several millennia after the Hand was disbanded, the Matoran Civil War occurred and Mata Nui began to fall ill, causing the Great Disruption. In response to this, the Hand's remaining members who had not already joined the Order of Mata Nui banded together again and reformed the Hand of Artakha, set on correcting what they saw as the Order's mistake. After the Toa Valmai revived the Great Spirit, the Hand recruited Turaga Mathus into their ranks, using him as their mascot and temporary leader until they could free Mallake.
The Hand of Artakha lay low for the next several thousand years until the time of the Great Cataclysm, when Mata Nui was felled by Makuta Teridax. Blaming the Order of Mata Nui for the disaster, the Hand made its move against the Order, not waiting for Mallake to return. However, they soon proved to be just as disorganized and unruly as their previous incarnation and were swiftly defeated. Rather than send them to the Pit, as Mallake was already there and could take charge of them again, the Hand members were instead kept on Daxia within their heavily guarded fortress.
It is currently unknown whether the members of the Hand were still in the fortress when it was leveled by Makuta Teridax after he had usurped control of the Matoran Universe.
   Empire of Makuta Universe
When the Brotherhood of Makuta expanded into an empire, the reformed Hand of Artakha accelerated their plans to free Mallake and set fort on Voya Nui. Meanwhile, Mallake made contact with Makuta Krika, who had grown disillusioned with the Makuta's plans and agreed to help Mallake make it back to the surface, allowing him to take control of the Hand from "King" Mathus. After a quick confrontation with the Order of Mata Nui, the Hand of Artakha used Brutaka's Kanohi Olmak and traveled to the Tren Krom Peninsula. There they established their domain with the help of Makuta Krika and set their sights on the island of Artakha.
Using the Olmak, the Hand intervened with the Makuta's invasion on Artakha, with Mallake doing battle with Makuta Icarax. However, both Mallake and Icarax were swiftly defeated by Makuta Teridax, who banished both to the dungeons of Destral. Meanwhile, Botar arrived and took the remaining Hand members to the Pit.
