Star Wars Destiny Essential Guide: Organizations

SITH
Sith Order
Information
   Founder: The Exiles
   Established: 6900 BBY
   Headquarters: Korriban
History
The Sith have their roots as a barbaric race on the desert world of Korriban, carrying a natural relationship with the dark side of the Force. For thousands of years, civil war plagued Korriban until 28,000 BBY when the scattered Sith nations were united by Adas, who was subsequently hailed as the Sith'ari -- or "Sith Overlord." Three hundred years into Adas' reign, Korriban was visited by the Rakata who attempted to manipulate Adas into allowing them to conquer Korriban. The Sith king eventually saw through their deception however and drove off the invaders before using their vessels to expand the Sith's territory.
Eventually, Adas would perish and the Sith once again fell into an era of strife and infighting. Subsequent kings would continue to expand the Sith's growing empire though few were successful in reigning for more than a handful of years due to the vicious cycle of civil war. By 7000 BBY, King Dathka Graush succeeded in taking over two-thirds of Korriban, though he too would fall after fifty years of reign due to the cruelty his rule brought upon his people.
Around the time of Graush's reign, rogue Jedi delving into the dark arts broke off from the Jedi Order and waged a hundred-year-long war. In 6900 BBY, the defeated Dark Jedi were exiled to an unexplored region of the Outer Rim where they came across the Stygian Caldera and the Sith worlds it contained. Landing on Korriban, Ajunta Pall and his Exiles discovered the Force-sensitive Sith and decided to subjugate them to their rule. After luring King Hakagram Graush into their confidence and slaying him, the Dark Jedi declared themselves overlords of the Sith people, with Ajunta Pall taking on the title of Jen'ari -- Dark Lord of the Sith.
Old Sith Empire
Information
   Founder: Ajunta Pall, the Exiles
   Established: 6900 BBY
   Headquarters: Korriban, Ziost
History
Though the Sith had had an empire under King Adas, the Sith Empire established 6900 BBY was the first to be encountered by the Galactic Republic. Following their defeat at the end of the Hundred Year Darkness, the Dark Jedi exiles were banished to the Outer Rim where they came across the Stygian Caldera and the planet Korriban within it, home to the native Sith species. After overthrowing their king, Ajunta Pall and his Exiles bent the Sith to their rule and quickly forged a new empire from the shambles Adas' empire had been left in. In time, they declared themselves Lords of the Sith with Ajunta Pall taking on the title of Jen'ari -- or Dark Lord of the Sith.
Not long after ironing their rule over the Stygian Caldera, some of the Sith Lords -- namely Tulak Hord and Baron Remulus Dreypa -- became ambitious and desired to take their revenge on the Republic. Despite Pall's objections, these Sith Lords amassed a fleet of ships and waged a campaign of terror throughout the outside galaxy. However, this campaign did little more than confirm the Exiles' survival to the Jedi and that they had taken on the name of "Sith." While Dreypa's forces ended up crash-landing on the planet Kesh, Hord was successful enough in his campaign that he earned the titles of "Lord of Hate" and "Master of Gathering Darkness." When he was eventually forced to return to Sith Space, he took over the mantle of Dark Lord after it had been left vacant by Ajunta Pall's death.
Despite Hord and Dreypa's campaigns, the Sith Empire quickly fell into the realm of myth as the Jedi had difficulty in locating the Stygian Caldera and the worlds within it. Over the next millennia, wayward ships would stumble upon Korriban and their crews would become slaves to the rapidly growing empire. After Hord and the remaining Exiles passed, many Sith would vie for the mantle of Dark Lord, with some reigns lasting longer than others. By 6493 BBY, the Sith Empire was predominantly made up of Sith-Human hybrids that had been borne from interbreeding between the Dark Jedi and the native Sith.

   Founder: Skadge, among others
   Established: c.3653 BBY
Headquarters: Coruscant, Mustafar (under Xomit Grunseit)
History
In the years following the Treaty of Coruscant in 3653 BBY, prominent gangsters took advantage of the ensuing chaos and seized control of the lower levels below Galactic City. Deriving their name from the phrase "better a black sun than none," the crime syndicate quickly amassed power throughout Coruscant's lower levels. Despite attempts made by the Galactic Republic to shut down Black Sun's operations, the crime syndicate continued to grow in power over the next several thousand years.
By 33 BBY, Black Sun was considered a force to be reckoned with and had as much influence on the galaxy as the Republic itself. Thinks to bribes made towards people in high places, Black Sun remained headquartered on Coruscant and reigned supreme throughout the planet's criminal underworld. Seeing the syndicate as a potential threat to his designs, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious sent his apprentice Darth Maul to assassinate Underlord Alexi Garyn and his Vigo lieutenants.
This dealt a major blow to Black Sun's hold on the underworld and left a power vacuum that many vied to fill. Eventually, a Vigo named Dal Perhi assumed control and proceeded to restore Black Sun's power on Coruscant. Meanwhile, a splinter cell claiming to be the true Black Sun was established by the Falleen Vigo Xomit Grunseit which went on to consolidate power in the Outer Rim Territories from Mustafar. Perhi permitted Grunseit's faction to continue operating as it provided a useful distraction for the Republic, thus allowing Perhi to continue rebuilding Black Sun on Coruscant.
During the Clone Wars, Grunseit's faction was taken over by the rogue Sith Lord Darth Maul, who amassed Black Sun into his Shadow Collective. After the Shadow Collective fell, Grunseit's assets were reabsorbed by Perhi though some remnants would go on to form the Crimson Dawn faction some time after the rise of the Galactic Empire. Meanwhile, Perhi was assassinated by his lieutenant Prince Xizor, who proceeded to rise to the rank of Underlord himself. Under Xizor, Black Sun returned to a state it had not been in since Garyn's rule and was on par with the Empire itself in terms of galactic influence. Rather than see Black Sun as a rival power, Emperor Palpatine instead considered the Falleen Prince to be a useful asset and even encouraged a rivalry between him and Darth Vader.
In 3 ABY, after discovering Xizor's attempts to kill his son and upset his plans, Darth Vader ordered his forces to destroy Xizor's skyhook over Coruscant, therefore ending the Falleen's reign as Black Sun's underlord. Left without a leader once more, the syndicate spiraled into a constant state of infighting. While Xizor's niece Savan briefly took over as Underlord, she was quickly apprehended by the New Republic in the months following the Battle of Endor. Over the next several years, control of Black Sun would pass on from crime lord to crime lord -- Fliry Vorru, Boss Gyuti, Y'ull Acib, Durga the Hutt. After Durga's attempt to bring down the New Republic was thwarted, Black Sun fell under the radar and maintained a low profile for the next ten years. In 24 ABY, the former bounty hunter Czethros took over the syndicate in an attempt to revive it but was ultimately defeated and captured.
While the New Republic was kept preoccupied by the Crimson Empire, the Falleen Prince Xalren Mithric made his move to gather the dissident cells of Black Sun and re-consolidate its power once more. By 30 ABY, Xalren had succeeded in reestablishing the syndicate's power base though its existence remained secret to the New Republic. In 35 ABY, word of Black Sun's resurgence began to spread just as the Glorian Empire invaded the known galaxy. While NR Intelligence operatives investigated ties between Black Sun and the Glorians, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Kadar -- a former agent of Black Sun -- set out on a mission to track down and kill Prince Xalren and his nine lieutenants.
While the rogue Mandalorian succeeded in eliminating all nine Vigos, Prince Xalren was undeterred by his efforts and was quick to replace his lieutenants. However, he still recognized Kadar as a threat to Black Sun and tasked Vigo Scur Bodalla with killing the bounty hunter. After Bodalla failed to accomplish this, Xalren and the Vigos convened on Mustafar where they made plans to create a new warrior to combat Kadar. Before they could go through with this however, Bodalla's droid detonated a bomb that had been wired into its processor by the scientist Mal Banvor. The resulting explosion killed Xalren and his lieutenants, once again leaving Black Sun without leadership. Rather than rebuild under a new Underlord, the syndicate was instead absorbed by the Malvis Cabal, effectively ending the organization after over three thousand years of existence.
Dark Empire
Information
Founder: Darth Vorath (secretly), Palpatine clone
   Established: 6 ABY
   Headquarters: Byss
History
The Dark Empire was the successor state of the Galactic Empire. Made from the remnant factions formed after the death of Emperor Palpatine, the Dark Empire was engineered by the Sith of Darth Vorath to shape the Imperial forces for Vorath himself to use.
The Dark Empire was first formed when Vorath's Sith used one of the clone bodies left behind by Palpatine to rally the scattered Imperial forces under a single banner. After a successful series of campaigns against the New Republic, the clone Emperor began to organize a full-scale assault on Coruscant. Seeing through the deception that was the clone Palpatine, Grand Admiral Thrawn ordered his forces to retreat. Those still loyal to Palpatine stayed behind and were quickly repelled by the Republic.
Retreating to their capital of Byss, the Dark Empire barely had time to lick its wounds when the clone Emperor was suddenly assassinated by Darth Vorath and Atha Prime. This unexpected loss left a major power vacuum in the Dark Empire. Between this and Thrawn's secession, this left the Dark Empire vulnerable to an attack by the New Republic following not long after their failed attack on Coruscant. With no means to fight the Republic, the Empire evacuated Byss and fled from the Deep Core.
Retreating to the Outer Rim, the Dark Empire established temporary command on Ord Cantrell, where the members of the Ruling Council attempted to select a new leader and rebuild their power base. As head of the Ruling Council, Burr Nolyds was considered a natural shoo-in, but was despised by the Moffs, particularly Darius Onneir. Despite this, Nolyds remained in command of the Dark Empire until he was mysteriously assassinated two months later.
Shaken by this event, the Council promoted Councilor Xandel Carivus to replace Nolyds, figuring him to be a spineless coward whom they could easily manipulate. What they did not know was that Carivus was the one responsible for Nolyds' death, having made a deal with a mysterious benefactor to ensure his rise to power. Unbeknownst to Carivus however was that his "ally" was purposely trying to destabilize the Dark Empire to ensure they would not pose a threat to Darth Vorath's Crimson Empire, which Thrawn had defected to.
To this length, Carivus' benefactor secretly increased tensions between the human and non-human members of the Ruling Council by killing each. This eventually led to Carivus disbanding the rest of the Council and declaring himself Emperor. This enraged Baron Ragez D'Asta, whose daughter had been imprisoned by Carivus, and he unleashed his fleet on Ord Cantrell. With the help of Moff Onneir and ex-Royal Guardsman Kir Kanos, Carivus was overthrown and executed.
Under the leadership of Moff Onneir, the remnant relocated to Bastion, where it would remain for the next fourteen years until its demise at the hands of the New Republic.
Glorian
Information
   Founder: Necros
   Established: c.4 ABY
   Headquarters: Unknown Regions
History
The Glorians were a sect of the Shi'ido species that broke away from their brethren on Lao-mon and forged an empire in the Unknown Regions. Under the guidance of the enigmatic Waru, whom they knew only as the Magnificence, the Glorians eventually made their move against the galaxy at large in 35 ABY, infiltrating the Galactic Alliance and Imperial Remnant to topple both governments from within before launching a full-scale invasion.
It was a common belief among the Shi'ido that their involvement in galactic affairs was best kept to a minimum and that it was wiser to not exploit their shape-shifting capabilities. This changed in 4 ABY when the entity Waru was brought out of his reality due to a disturbance in the Force. From his permanent place on Crseih Station, Waru reached out and was able to touch the mind of a nameless hermit on Lao-mon. Said hermit's addled mind resulted in Waru's own breaking and the entity's simple desire to return home suddenly became one of conquest. Through the hermit, which became his Avatar, Waru rallied like-minded Shi'ido from the hermit's village. When their leader, Sarron Noole, joined the Avatar's cause, the villagers collectively exiled Noole and the Avatar to the predator-abundant jungles.
This did little to deter the pair and over time Noole and the Avatar were able to rally others to their cause, eventually forming a cult. As their numbers grew, their opponents dwindled and in time the cult had taken over Lao-mon, establishing the Glorian Empire. Naming himself emperor, Noole renamed himself Necros and prepared his people for the invasion that was to come.
Mandalorians
Information
   Founder: Mandalore the First
   Established: c.7000 BBY
   Headquarters: Mandalore
History
The Mandalorians first rose at the dawn of the Manderon Period when the Taung conquered the planet of Mandalore and named it in honor of their leader, Mandalore the First. From here, the newly-fashioned Mandalorian Crusaders set out to conquer neighboring systems, cutting out their own slice of territory in the galaxy. As time went on, they became more ambitious in their conquests and invaded worlds such as Nevoota and Basilisk, bringing them to the Galactic Republic's attention.
In 4002 BBY, the Mandalorians began conquering worlds in the Deep Core to pave a path to Empress Teta. This eventually brought them into conflict with the Sith Lord Ulic Qel-Droma, who challenged Mandalore the Indomitable to a duel and bested him in combat. The humbled Mandalore thus pledged his allegiance to the Brotherhood of the Sith and joined them in their war against the Republic. During an attack on Onderon, Mandalore was separated from his fellow Crusaders and crashed on the moon of Dxun, where he was quickly overwhelmed and slain by the native beasts. His mask was later recovered by another Crusader, who claimed it for himself as per tradition and declared himself Mandalore the Ultimate. With Exar Kun and his Sith having been defeated, the new Mandalore undertook the task of rebuilding the clans after the losses they had suffered during the war. With the original Taung species on the brink of extinction, Mandalore expanded his recruiting efforts and welcomed beings regardless of species into the clans, bringing forth a new generation of Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders.
Twenty years after the Sith War, an emissary of the True Sith Empire convinced Mandalore that the Mandalorians' Great Last Battle was at hand and pushed him to lead the Neo-Crusaders in a war against the Republic. Emboldened by these claims, Mandalore the Ultimate struck at various worlds across the Outer Rim Territories before invading the Republic in full-force in 3964 BBY. Though the Jedi Order initially refused to join the war effort, a genocide on Cathar pushed them to action and the Jedi Knight known as Revan led his Jedi Crusaders in the war against the Mandalorians.
After four years of fighting, the Mandalorian Wars came to an end when Revan forced the Mandalorians into battle at Malachor V. While he faced off with Mandalore the Ultimate himself, Jedi General Meetra Surik activated the Mass Shadow Generator superweapon which annihilated the Mandalorian fleet and killed thousands of Crusaders. After slaying Mandalore, Revan took his mask and hid it away to prevent any Mandalorian from taking the mantle for themselves. Left without a leader, the Neo-Crusaders surrendered and were stripped of their armor, forced to live the rest of their lives as bounty hunters, mercenaries, or other professions.
Four years after Malachor V, the Mandalorians saw the beginning of a resurgence when former Crusader Canderous Ordo joined the crew of a redeemed Revan and helped him locate and destroy the Star Forge. After bringing an end to the Sith Empire he had created, Revan led Canderous to where he had hid Mandalore's Mask on Rekkiad, allowing him to claim the mantle and take on the moniker of Mandalore the Preserver. Over the course of the next three years, the new Mandalore devoted himself to reuniting the Mandalorian clans and restoring them to their former glory before the Mandalorian Wars. In 3951 BBY, Mandalore joined the crew of the Jedi Exile, formerly General Surik, and helped her bring down the Sith Triumvirate.
Despite Ordo's efforts, it would be another three centuries before the Mandalorians would come out of their fragmented state. In 3661 BBY, the resurgent Sith Empire chose a young Mandalorian gladiator to serve as their pawn and helped him claim the mantle of Mandalore. Many of the scattered clans rallied under him and created a blockade along the Hydian Way to prevent the Republic from providing support to Outer Rim worlds. When the blockade was broken, Mandalore fell from grace and became known pejoratively as "Mandalore the Lesser." Not long after his failure, Mandalore was bested in combat by the warrior Artus Lok, who took over the clans and adopted the title of "Mandalore the Vindicated." Under Lok, the Mandalorians continued to serve as allies to the Sith for the remainder of the Great Galactic War and the years that followed it.
When the Eternal Empire attacked both the Republic and the Sith Empire, Mandalore the Vindicate fought valiantly against the invaders only to be overwhelmed and killed by Skytroopers. At the behest of her fellow Mandalorians, the legendary bounty hunter Shae Vizla took on the mantle herself and became known as "Mandalore the Avenger" as she continued the fight against the Eternal Empire.
When the Sith Empire eventually collapsed sometime before 3522 BBY, their manipulations of the Mandalorians came to light and the clans became resentful of the dark order. As such, when the Sith returned during the Draggulch Period, the Mandalorians were more often than not fighting alongside the Jedi rather than against them. This unlikely alliance was further strengthened by the induction of the Mandalorian warrior Tarre Vizsla into the Jedi Order. Vizsla went on to create the Darksaber, a unique lightsaber which would serve as a symbol for the Mandalorians for many centuries to come. In 1750 BBY, Mandalorian mercenaries were hired by Jedi Master Murrtaggh to distract General Adriav and the Black Knights while he infiltrated the Dark Underlord's fortress.
In 1058 BBY, the Mandalorian sector fell victim to the Candorian plague and was quickly besieged by raiders. Upon returning home to find his family dead and his home under the rule of outlaws, Aga Awaud rallied Mandalorians across the galaxy to make the push against these outlaws, taking back Mandalore and its neighboring systems. Awaud subsequently adopted the moniker of "Mandalore the Uniter" and dedicated himself to reestablishing much-needed stability to not just Mandalorian Space but to the Outer Rim as a whole.
Following the conclusion of the New Sith Wars, the Mandalorians underwent a period of significant growth as a result of Awaud's efforts. Despite the urging of clan leaders to join the Republic, the reigning Mand'alor Aran Cabur refused to sacrifice Mandalore's independence and was determined to bring the Mandalorians back to their glory days. Fearful of a conflict as devastating as the Mandalorian Wars, the Republic and the Jedi led an attack on Mandalore, reducing large portions of the planet to desert. Cabur perished during this excision and the entire sector was occupied by the Republic. While the warrior clans scattered, a reformist group of pacifistic Mandalorians was eventually formed and became the prevailing government of Mandalore, answering to the Republic.
Although the New Mandalorians held predominance over Mandalorian Space, the warrior clans and their ways lived on in Mandalore's countryside and other rural worlds. These Mandalorians became known as the Faithful and kept the title of Mand'alor alive while the New Mandalorians had abandoned the mantle. In 60 BBY however, the Faithful suffered a schism when the Journeyman Protector Jaster Mereel became Mand'alor and established a new set of guidelines which dictated that Mandalorians should conduct themselves as honorable mercenaries. The barbaric Tor Vizsla opposed this codex, believing that the Mandalorians should return to their roots as conquerors and crusaders. Before long, a civil war broke out between Mereel's True Mandalorians and Vizsla's splinter cell Death Watch.
In 52 BBY, Mereel was betrayed by his comrade Montross leading to his death at Vizsla's hands. Before expiring, Mereel passed on the mantle of Mand'alor to his protege Jango Fett, who continued the fight against Death Watch. In 44 BBY, Vizsla lured the True Mandalorians into a trap on Galidraan which pitted them in a battle against the Jedi Order. Out of three hundred Mandalorians, Jango was the last one standing and he was taken into the custody of Galidraan's governor, who later sold him into slavery. While Jango would later free himself and take his revenge on Tor Vizsla two years later, he had no people to return to after the disastrous events on Galidraan. As such, he abandoned the mantle of Mand'alor and became a bounty hunter in order to make a living for himself.
Ten years after becoming a bounty hunter, Jango Fett was hired by the Sith Lord Darth Tyranus to serve as a genetic template for an army of clones that would be commanded by the Republic as part of the Sith's plot to destroy the Jedi. Fett agreed on the condition that he raise one of the clones -- unaltered from the accelerated aging process -- as his son. A decade later, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine -- in truth Tyranus' master Darth Sidious -- was granted emergency powers by the Senate which allowed him to take control of the clone army the Kaminoans had created and wage war with the Separatist Alliance. During the battle which started the Clone Wars, Jango Fett was killed by Jedi Master Mace Windu.
With the Clone Wars came political and societal unrest for the New Mandalorians. Death Watch saw a resurgence under the leadership of Pre Vizsla as they moved to remove Duchess Satine Kryze from power and take over Mandalore. With the help of the rogue Sith Darth Maul, Vizsla succeeded in taking the throne of Mandalore though his reign was short-lived as Maul immediately turned against him and overthrew Vizsla. However, many Mandalorians including some of Death Watch's own members refused to acknowledge a non-Mandalorian like Maul as their ruler. As the New Mandalorian government collapsed and Death Watch spiraled into infighting, the mantle of Mand'alor was once again left vacant, leaving it ripe for the taking.
Concurrent to the conflict between the New Mandalorians and Death Watch, the Mandalorian Supercommandos that had been led by Jaster Mereel and Jango Fett saw a resurgence of their own in the form of the Mandalorian Protectors, led by rogue ARC Trooper Spar. A clone of Jango Fett that had somehow inherited his template's memories, Spar had come to Mandalore following Fett's death on Geonosis and recruited like-minded Mandalorians to his cause. Taking on the moniker of "Mandalore the Resurrector," Spar and his Protectors sided with the Separatists as they continued to wage war against the Jedi and the Republic. However, Darth Sidious would end up leading the Protectors into a trap that saw all but three of them -- Spar included -- killed by Republic forces. Shell-shocked from this betrayal, Spar abandoned the mantle of Mand'alor just as the Clone Wars drew to a close and the Galactic Empire rose to take the Republic's place.
After coming to power, the Empire was quick to take control of Mandalore and installed the loyal Gar Saxon as Viceroy to enforce their will. Meanwhile, Shysa and his followers went into hiding, determined to overthrow Imperial rule. While Shysa personally believed that the mantle of Mand'alo' rightfully belonged to Jango Fett's son Boba Fett, he reluctantly took on the post himself in order to buy time for Fett to take on the role himself as well as to inspire morale among his people. In order to fund his resistance, Shysa hired himself out to clients off-world in the hopes of procuring enough money to continue the fight against the Empire.
As a result of Shysa's prolonged absence, some Mandalorians began to grow disillusioned with the fight and ended up siding with the Empire out of fear or for survival's sake. This changed in 1 BBY when Bo-Katan Kryze took up the post of Mand'alor at the behest of Sabine Wren and rallied the clans into standing up against the Empire. This resulted in a second civil war between Bo-Katan's Mandalorians and those who stood with the Empire. While the Imperial Supercommandos were pushed to the edge of defeat, reinforcements were sent by the Emperor himself to crush Bo-Katan's resistance before they could retake Mandalore. In the aftermath of the bloody conflict, the Empire installed the Suprema Ampotem Za as overlord of Mandalore and within a few short months the entire planet was enslaved by the Empire.
Upon returning to Mandalore to find their people in chains, Fenn Shysa and his partner Tobbi Dala rallied their Protectors and made the push against the Suprema. With the help of Princess Leia Organa and a noble sacrifice made by Dala, Shysa and his Protectors were able to overthrow the Suprema and liberate Mandalore from Imperial rule, setting it on a path for restoration.
Order of Revan
Information
   Founder: Tari Darkspanner
   Established: Before the Cold War
   Headquarters: Dromund Kaas
History
The Revanite cult was established decades before the Cold War by the Sith Tari Darkspanner, who sought to change to the resurgent Sith Empire from within. In 3638 BBY, the order fell under the leadership of Revan himself, who had gone mad due to centuries of torture under the Sith Emperor. Eventually, Revan was defeated by the combined forces of the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic and the Order of Revan was thought to be destroyed.
Unbeknownst to either faction, the cult survived in spirit as Revan's teachings continued to be passed down over the next several millennia. In particular, the Sith Lord Valsen ensured that Revanite teachings continued on Tralon IV and by the time of the New Sith Wars, the order had seen a minor resurgence. During this period, the Sith Lady Lydia adhered to the early tenets of what would become known as the Rule of Two, and was indeed a follower of the cult itself. She passed on her teachings to her apprentice Miden Finn, who passed them on to his students.
After the Sith were wiped out during the final Battle of Ruusan, the Revanites went into hiding to avoid a similar fate. Some would be recruited by the Banite Sith as acolytes or even full-fledged apprentices. During the Clone Wars, the fallen Jedi Naya Sendor rediscovered her family's history with the cult and became obsessed with resurrecting Revan, to the point of believing her son to be Revan reincarnated.
Following the Battle of Endor, the Revanites sought to further this scheme by sending an operative of theirs to infiltrate Vorath's Sith and trick Darth Vorath into believing Toah to indeed be descended from Revan. After Vorath's Sith Order collapsed, the Order of Revan was reorganized into the Sith Order of Darth Sedriss, a former Revanite herself. Following the failed insurgency of the Followers of Taral, Sedriss disbanded her Sith Order, leaving the Revanite cult's fate uncertain.
Prophets of the Dark Side
Information
   Founder: Darth Millennial
   Established: After 980 BBY
   Headquarters: Dromund Kaas
History
Less than a thousand years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Sith Lord Darth Millennial became disillusioned with the Rule of Two and abandoned his master Darth Cognus. Fleeing to Dromund Kaas, Darth Millennial blended the teachings of Pre-Republic philosophers with the tenets of Lord Skere Kaan to create the Dark Force religion, anointing himself as Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side.
For the next millennia, the Prophets kept a low profile until they were discovered by Darth Sidious, who converted the Prophets to his cause. At some point during their servitude to Sidious, the Prophets created the sentient armor Atha Prime and encased former Chancellor Finis Valorum within it. During the early days of the Galactic Empire, Sidious sent some of his dark side adepts to be trained by the Prophets, including those who would become Inquisitors or his own Emperor's Hands. However, as the Battle of Endor drew near, Supreme Prophet Kadann clashed with Sidious over a guaranteed victory and warned the Emperor that he may very well meet his end. In response, Sidious sent his Inquisitors to Dromund Kaas to "reeducate" the Supreme Prophet, prompting Kadann and his followers to retreat to Bosthirda.
Believed dead, the Prophets of the Dark Side were replaced by a new "Church of the Dark Side" by Grand Vizier Sate Pestage with the help of former Prophet Cronal. Led by a Bimm posing as Kadann, the Church of the Dark Side filled a spiritual void that had been left from the death of Darth Sidious and was used by the fragmented Empire to maintain its now fragile control of the galaxy. Before long however, the false Kadann and his Church turned against the central Imperial faction to side with the warlord Trioculus, hoping to use the mutant slaver as a means to take over the Empire themselves. Ultimately however, Trioculus was felled by the New Republic and the false Kadann fled to Yavin 4, where he was killed by the Dark Jedi Azrakel.
Meanwhile, the true Prophets continued to scheme from their hiding place on Bosthirda. It was around this time that they came into contact with the ancient Sith Lord Darth Vorath and formed an alliance with him, helping him train a new generation of Sith as well as manipulating the various Imperial splinter factions so that he could rebuild them into an Empire of his own. After Vorath was vanquished, the Prophets went into hiding once more. Fifteen years later, during the Insurgency of Darth Taral, Atha Prime attempted to contact the Prophets through a device located aboard the crashed Super Star Destroyer Ravager on Jakku. However, the frequency code had been altered by Supreme Leader Snoke and Atha Prime's plot to resurrect Darth Vorath was foiled.
