History
   Core Universe
Amath's origins are shrouded in mystery. Over 100,000 years ago, at the start of the Matoran Universe's history, he served as a member of the Hand of Artakha and defended the Matoran from threats to their lives and jobs. When the Hand was disbanded, Amath was left without a purpose. His reputation as a hero was overshadowed by the creation of the Toa and he had no desire to live a life of secrecy as the Order of Mata Nui did.
Several millennia later, Amath was recruited into the Dark Hunters and given the codename "Shadow Stealer." On his first mission, he was sent to a location far away from Odina and completed it in mere days when it was meant to last him years. His journey back to Odina was hindered by the intervention of other Dark Hunters, some hired by the Brotherhood of Makuta out of fear of his Shadow-based powers. By the time of the Quest for the Kanohi Ignika, Shadow Stealer had yet to return to Odina.
   Empire of Makuta Universe
As a result of the Makuta taking over Metru Nui and expanding their empire, the Shadowed One realized that Shadow Stealer and his abilities were far too valuable to risk losing him to the Makuta. As a result, he expedited efforts to bring Shadow Stealer back to Odina quicker before assigning him permanently to the island.
At some point, Shadow Stealer was approached by Shikaiju to help her find the hidden island of Okoto and use the Mask of Ultimate Power against the Empire of Makuta. Determined to restore his reputation as a hero, Shadow Stealer agreed to her plan and made preparations to free the Toa of Psionics Varian so that her powers could be used in breaking the Okotan barrier. When a team of Toa -- among them another Psionics type -- were brought to Odina, Shadow Stealer alerted Shikaiju and the Saevta arrived to take the Toa away while Shadow Stealer freed Varian and brought her with him to Okoto.
Once all of the Toa were gathered at the barrier to Okoto, Shadow Stealer informed them of the island's importance and how it could be the key towards ending the Makuta's rule. While initially reluctant, the three Toa of Psionics agreed and used their powers to break down the barrier. Shadow Stealer then wasted no time in scouring the island for the Kanohi Nui, leaving the Toa behind. After retrieving the mask, Shadow Stealer returned to the shore to find Shikaiju and Makuta Teridax waiting for him. Realizing that he had been deceived into helping the Makuta, Shadow Stealer attempted to flee with the mask only for Teridax to grab him with a Shadow Hand and absorb him into his body, ending his life.

History
--
   Empire of Makuta Universe
Sixty thousand years before the Great Cataclysm, the Order of Mata Nui discovered the existence of Okoto, an island at the edge of the universe which contained a Mask of Ultimate Power. Not wanting such a Kanohi to end up in the wrong hands, Helryx had a barrier erected around the island that could only be broken by three Toa of Psionics and destroyed any record of its existence.
When Metru Nui was taken over by the Brotherhood of Makuta shortly after the Great Cataclysm, Helryx began making preparations to take back the Great City. Six months after the Cataclysm, Makuta Teridax was overthrown by the Toa Metru, though this did little to impede the Brotherhood's invasion of the rest of the universe.
Upon receiving word that Voya Nui had broken off from the Southern Continent as a result of the Cataclysm, Helryx brought a team of Order agents with her to investigate. Traveling to Voya Nui, Helryx and her team came upon Brutaka, who had lost his Kanohi Olmak to members of a reformed Hand of Artakha. After locating the Hand's new base of operations, the Order agents stormed the castle and confronted Mallake and his followers. After a brief skirmish, the Hand used the Olmak to retreat from Voya Nui, leaving behind three members whose loyalty had been in question. Helryx and the others then returned to Daxia and had the Hand members imprisoned.
While the Order continued to combat the Brotherhood of Makuta across the universe, Helryx had her agents retrieve the disgraced Toa Lesovikk and placed him in command of a Toa team tasked with capturing Karzahni. The Toa would end up being strayed from their path and inadvertently assisted the rogue Shikaiju in destroying the Okoto barrier. Infuriated, Helryx sent Botar to retrieve the Kanohi Nui, though the Saevta was ultimately killed by Teridax before he could stop the Makuta from taking the mask.

History
   Core Universe
A member of the Morcian race, Brutaka was created by the Great Beings and placed in the Matoran Universe on the island of Morcia. A prominent figure of his people, Brutaka went on to serve as a lieutenant in the Brotherhood of Makuta before being recruited into the secretive Order of Mata Nui. He became good friends with his fellow agent Axonn and the two were late assigned to the village of Voya Nui to guard the Mask of Life.
When the Great Cataclysm occurred, Voya Nui broke off from the rest of the Southern Continent and ended up on the surface of Aqua Magna, where the Great Spirit Robot had crash-landed. Brutaka was shaken by this event and came to the conclusion that the Great Spirit Mata Nui had abandoned his people, despite Axonn's efforts to reassure him. A thousand years later, Brutaka's eroded faith was exploited by the six Piraka when they recruited him in their efforts to steal the Mask of Life. After doing battle with Axonn and the Toa Inika, Brutaka was eventually defeated and taken to the Pit by Botar.
While in the Pit, Brutaka came to regret his actions, realizing that he had been in the wrong. When he learned that the Mask of Life had fallen into the hands of the Barraki, Brutaka attempted to take it back from them only to be dragged away by one of Kalmah's Giant Squids. After escaping, he crossed paths with Makuta Teridax and found him attempting to recreate the Nui Stone with the Staff of Artakha. Quick to intervene, Brutaka took the staff from Teridax and summoned Botar to take it away before doing battle with the Makuta. Their duel came to an end when Brutaka informed Teridax of the Mask of Life's location, forcing the Makuta to break off from the fight.
As repayment for his efforts against Teridax's schemes, Brutaka was rescued by the Order of Mata Nui and made a probationary member of the Order. Traveling to Metru Nui with Helryx, Brutaka captured the Dark Hunter Dweller and used his Kanohi Olmak to send Toa Takanuva to Karda Nui. Brutaka would later lead a team of ex-prisoners of the Order to rescue Makuta Miserix, former leader of the Brotherhood, to aid them in the fight against the Makuta. After a treacherous and near-suicidal mission, Brutaka's team succeeded in liberating Miserix from the island of Artidax and brought him back to Daxia.
Not long after, the Order decided to come out of hiding to wage their war against the Brotherhood of Makuta. Rejoining his old friend Axonn, Brutaka traveled to Zakaz to convince the Skakdi warlords to join forces with the Order. They then traveled to the Southern Islands to find and destroy the pool of Antidermis that the Makuta were created from. Before they could do so, the pool exploded and the two fell into it. This resulted in Brutaka's body becoming greatly enhanced from the effects of Antidermis, as well as gaining the powers of a Makuta and a mental link with the Antidermis itself. Realizing what the full extent of Teridax's plan was, Brutaka used his mask to transport him and Axonn to the Great Spirit Robot's Core Processor, where they found the Toa Hagah, Helryx, and others. Before the group could do anything to stop Teridax from taking over the Matoran Universe, Teridax himself teleported Brutaka, Axonn, and Keetongu to the edge of the universe, though not before destroying Brutaka's Olmak to prevent him from escaping.
After escaping from the Southern Islands, Brutaka used his new powers to transport himself and Axonn back to the Core Processor, where another party of beings was gathered. The room soon became divided as to whether they should destroy the Core Processor or to allow the Great Spirit Robot to continue functioning, of which Brutaka took the latter stance. Before a decision could be reached, Teridax teleported all of them out of the robot and into deep space. They were then rescued by Vezon, using his own Kanohi Olmak, and brought into the fortress of a cursed Great Being on Bota Magna. As the group debated whether or not to free the Great Being, the fortress was rigged by the disguised Great Being Velika in the hopes of killing them all.
   Empire of Makuta Universe
Six months after the Great Cataclysm, Brutaka was attacked by members of the reformed Hand of Artakha, who swiftly defeated him and stole his Kanohi Olmak. After being found by Helryx and other Order agents, Brutaka informed them of what had happened before heading to the Hand of Artakha's new base of operations. After a quick skirmish, the Hand of Artakha transported themselves away with the Kanohi Olmak, leaving a maskless Brutaka and the others behind.
After the Hand's failed invasion of Artakha and battle with the Brotherhood of Makuta, Botar captured their members and confiscated the Kanohi Olmak, returning it to Brutaka.

Information
    Kanohi: Sanok (Accuracy)
    Tools: Staff, dagger
    Affiliation: Order of Mata Nui
History
The being who would become known as Tobduk lived on the island of Visorak along with his fellow Korvis. Around 75,000 years ago, Makuta Chirox created the Visorak species and unleashed the Rahi spiders on the island for which they were named. The Korvis' village was destroyed and only a handful of survivors managed to escape, traveling to Stelt. One of them was eventually recruited into the Order of Mata Nui and given the name "Tobduk," the Matoran word for "survivor."
Working as an assassin for the Order, Tobduk was placed in charge of the operation to eliminate anyone who knew of the location of Artakha and arranged for the deaths of several individuals, including some of Tobduk's own teammates. He also created a virus that killed Makuta Kojol, who had led the raid on Artakha that had prompted the operation in the first place.
During the Destiny War, Tobduk was left in charge of Daxia while Helryx was away on duty. He recruited the Ko-Matoran agent Mazeka to accompany him to Destral where they infiltrated the Makuta's fortress. While Mazeka dealt with the Skakdi Vezon, Tobduk attacked and killed Makuta Tridax. He then gave Mazeka directions to Karda Nui, where the Ko-Matoran's rival Vultraz had gone.
    Empire of Makuta Universe
Seven months after the Great Cataclysm, Tobduk participated in an attack on Brotherhood of Makuta operations on the Northern Continent, slaughtering several Visorak and killing Makuta Nathuz.
After accompanying Helryx to a meeting with the Dark Hunters, he took part in the Battle for Metru Nui, during which he killed Tridax and several other Makuta stationed on Destral, eventually securing control of the island for the Order.

History
    Core Universe
Created as a member of the Tirivon species, Trinuma was recruited into the Order of Mata Nui.
At some point, Trinuma was tasked with relocating some of the Order's artifacts from Daxia to a remote island, using the Kanohi Olmak to do this. However, the Olmak was stolen by Gaardus and delivered to Makuta Tridax.
Five hundred years after the Great Cataclysm, Trinuma and Tobduk were sent to retrieve a tablet that compromised the Order's secrecy after a deranged Shallows Cat had killed the Maxilos unit that had been carrying it.
A thousand years after the Great Cataclysm, Trinuma was present when the Toa Nuva were brought to Daxia to use the Staff of Artakha. He later accompanied Botar to Xia so they could pick up a cache of weapons and rendezvous with Brutaka's team. However, they were attacked by Makuta Icarax and Botar was killed in the process. Surviving the encounter, Trinuma managed to deliver the weapons to Brutaka's team before returning to Daxia. During the war against the Brotherhood of Makuta, Trinuma brought Vezon with him on a mission to infiltrate Destral and sabotage the Brotherhood's teleportation device.
After Makuta Teridax took over the Matoran Universe, Daxia was destroyed and many of the Order's members were killed. The surviving Trinuma made it to Stelt and inform the Toa Nuva that he and other members of the Order had managed to survive.
    Empire of Makuta Universe
Six months after the Great Cataclysm, Trinuma reported to Helryx that Voya Nui had broken off from the Southern Continent. After Helryx and her team returned to Daxia with captured members of the Hand of Artakha, Trinuma spoke with the captive Turaga Mathus in his cell.
The following month, Trinuma and Tobduk led the Order's forces to the Northern Continent to fight against Makuta Nathuz and his forces. He later took part in the Battle for Metru Nui and escorted Macku and Kongu from Destral after they had managed to escape captivity.

MATA NUI / METRU NUI
Ahkmou
Information
    Homeland: Metru Nui
    Element: Stone
    Occupation: Carver
    Kanohi: Rau (Translation)
    Tools: Disk Launcher
History
Created as a Po-Matoran, Ahkmou was placed on the island of Metru Nui, living in Po-Metru with his fellow Po-Matoran. He had a bitter rivalry with Onewa, whom Ahkmou deeply resented.
As one of the six Matoran who knew the location of the Great Disks, Ahkmou was tracked down by the Dark Hunter Nidhiki, who convinced the Po-Matoran to help him obtain the disks. To this end, Ahkmou gave Nidhiki the names of the other five Matoran and helped the Dark Hunter set up traps for them. However, they were ultimately rescued by the newly-made Toa Metru and Ahkmou was forced to keep quiet when he was "rescued" from a fake predicament by Toa Onewa, though the newly-made Toa of Stone had his suspicions of Ahkmou's true loyalties. Ahkmou and the other five Matoran accompanied the Toa Metru on their quest to find the Great Disks and bring an end to the Morbuzakh plant that had been terrorizing Metru Nui.
Not long after the defeat of the Morbuzakh, Ahkmou and the other Matoran were lured to the Coliseum by Turaga Dume, who was in fact Makuta Teridax in disguise, and placed in Matoran Spheres. Makuta planned to use the spheres to wipe the Matoran's memories before reawakening them, proclaiming himself as their benevolent ruler. While this plan was ultimately thwarted by the Toa Metru, it did not prevent the Great Cataclysm brought about by Makuta casting the Great Spirit Mata Nui into a deep slumber which left Metru Nui in ruins. Forced to relocate in search of a new home for the Matoran, the Toa Metru carried the spheres containing Ahkmou and the other Matoran in the tunnels leading out of Metru Nui's dome. During their journey, they were attacked by Rahi and Ahkmou's sphere was lost in the chaos.
Ahkmou's sphere would later be found by Makuta after he had been freed from the prison the Toa Metru had put him in. Reawakening the Po-Matoran, Makuta told him that the Toa had deliberately abandoned him. He then tasked Ahkmou with infiltrating the new society the Toa Metru had created for the Matoran on the island of Mata Nui. Working as a trader, Ahkmou frequently attempted to sell bogus items to his fellow Po-Matoran, with Turaga Onewa having to constantly shut down his operations. After the arrival of the Toa Mata, Ahkmou sold Kolhii balls that had been infected by Makuta, making several Po-Matoran sick. After the Chronicler Takua uncovered his scheme, Ahkmou hastily closed up shop and fled from Po-Koro.
Ahkmou would later return to Metru Nui upon the Great City's rediscovery. When Makuta Teridax took over the Matoran Universe, he appointed Ahkmou as "Turaga" of Metru Nui and charged him with overseeing the City of Legends. After Makuta's reign was brought to an end, Ahkmou migrated to the restored Spherus Magna and attempted to ingratiate himself to the native Agori and Glatorian.
    Empire of Makuta Alternate Universe
In this alternate universe, Ahkmou was among the six Matoran chosen by Toa Lhikan to serve as Metru Nui's new Toa defenders. However, these new Toa Metru often clashed with one another and it was due to their inability to work together that they failed to defeat Makuta Teridax during the Great Cataclysm. This resulted in the Brotherhood of Makuta conquering Metru Nui and using it as the staging ground for their Empire. Ashamed by their failure, the Toa Metru went into hiding. Six months later, the Toa Metru were roused out of hiding to move against the Makuta. With the help of Ahkmou's Mask of Translation, they convinced the Rahi into helping them strike the Coliseum. Overwhelmed by this newly-formed resistance, Makuta fled from Metru Nui, ending his reign of terror.
The following month, Ahkmou and his teammates were sent on a quest to find the Toa of Light. Unbeknownst to the other Toa, Ahkmou had betrayed them to the Brotherhood of Makuta, seeing them as the only rightful body of power in absence of the Great Spirit. When the Toa Metru set out on their quest, Ahkmou sent a message to the Brotherhood who sent the hunter Umarak to retrieve the Mask of Light. In the fight that ensued, Ahkmou drowned Toa Tehutti and helped Umarak defeat the remaining Toa and acquire the Kanohi Avohkii. However, to Ahkmou's shock, Umarak refused to take the treacherous Toa with him back to Destral and left him behind with the remaining Toa. Ahkmou was then sent flying into the Silver Sea by Toa Orkahm.
Abilities and Traits
    Masks and Tools
As a Matoran, Ahkmou wore a powerless Kanohi Rau. In the Empire of Makuta Alternate Universe, this became a Great Mask of Translation when he was transformed into a Toa of Stone.

History
Created as a Le-Matoran, Orkahm was placed on the island of Metru Nui, living in Le-Metru. He was rivals with his fellow Le-Matoran Matau.
As one of the six Matoran who knew the location of the Great Disks, Orkahm was sought out by Matau after the latter became a Toa. Unbeknownst to either of them, the Po-Matoran Ahkmou had sold out Orkahm and the other Great Disk Matoran to the Dark Hunters Nidhiki and Krekka and Toa Matau was forced to rescue Orkahm from a tangle of transport cables that the Dark Hunters had ensnared him in. Later, Orkahm and the other five Matoran accompanied the Toa Metru on their quest to find the Great Disks and bring an end to the Morbuzakh plant that had been terrorizing Metru Nui.
Not long after the defeat of the Morbuzakh, Orkahm and the other Matoran were lured to the Coliseum by Turaga Dume, who was in fact Makuta Teridax in disguise, and placed in Matoran Spheres. Forced to relocate in search of a new home for the Matoran, the Toa Metru carried the spheres containing Orkahm and the other Matoran in the tunnels leading out of Metru Nui's dome. Upon arriving on the island of Mata Nui, Orkahm was freed from his sphere, although his memories of Metru Nui had been erased and his body greatly downsized.
After the defeat of the Bohrok-Kal, Orkahm and his fellow Le-Matoran Tamaru were flying through Le-Wahi when they were attacked by a strange Rahi, which was secretly Makuta in disguise. They were rescued by Toa Nuva Lewa who, with their help, successfully drove the Makuta-Nui creature into Mata Nui's wilderness. Upon the rediscovery of Metru Nui, Orkahm and the Matoran returned to the City of Legends. Following Makuta's reign as the Great Spirit and the subsequent Battle of Bara Magna, Orkahm migrated to the restored Spherus Magna.
    Empire of Makuta Universe
In this alternate universe, Orkahm was selected to become the Toa Metru of Air instead of Matau. Because of their clashing personalities, the Toa Metru of this universe failed to stop Makuta Teridax from taking over Metru Nui and were forced to go into hiding. Six months later, they were rallied by Turaga Lhikan and a team of Matoran resistance fighters to come out of hiding and take a stand against Makuta. With the help of Krahka and the Rahi, Orkahm and his teammates succeeded in defeating Makuta and liberating Metru Nui from his tyranny.
The following month, Turaga Dume sent the Toa Metru and the Rahaga on a quest to find the Toa of Light. As they crossed the Silver Sea towards the gate to Karzahni, their ship was attacked by the Shadow Hunter Umarak and most of the Toa Metru were killed, leaving Orkahm and Vhisola as the only survivors. Upon arriving at Karzahni, Orkahm and Vhisola faced off against Karzahni's Manas guards only to be defeated and captured by the Rahi.

History
Created as a Ta-Matoran, Dezalk lived in a region with other Matoran until he was sent to Karzahni after sustaining a major injury. Rebuilt into a smaller and weaker form, Dezalk was subsequently shipped off to the Southern Continent, where he lived in the Voya Nui region with other "repaired" Matoran. When the Great Cataclysm occurred, Voya Nui broke off from the rest of the continent and ended up on the surface of Aqua Magna.
A thousand years later, Dezalk was among the Matoran whom the Piraka enslaved with their Zamor Spheres.
    Empire of Makuta Universe
Six months after the Great Cataclysm, Dezalk joined a team of Matoran in search of Garan and other missing Matoran. This led them into discovering the Hand of Artakha and witnessing a clash between them and the Order of Mata Nui. After the Hand was defeated, Dezalk and the other Matoran returned to their village.

History
   Core Universe
Velika was created by the Great Beings and tasked with the construction of the Matoran Universe. Afterwards, he was placed on the Northern Continent where he lived among other Matoran. Shortly before the Great Spirit Robot departed, however, one of the Great Beings transferred his consciousness into Velika so that he could monitor the events of the Matoran Universe, maintaining contact with his agents on Spherus Magna. At some point, the Great Being posing as Velika tampered with the population's artificial intelligence, granting them complete sapience.
At an undetermined point in time, Velika suffered an injury which led to him being sent to the mad tyrant Karzahni, who rebuilt him in a crude, weaker form. Disgruntled with his inadequate work, Karzahni sent Velika and the other Matoran to the Southern Continent, where they lived in the region known as Voya Nui.
   Empire of Makuta Universe
In this universe, the Great Being never transferred his consciousness into Velika and the Po-Matoran lived a normal life up until being sent to Karzahni and ending up on Voya Nui.

Not long after, she and her fellow Toa Trisuma were recruited by Toa Pyreus into his developing team. However, when the team reached the island of Xia, Pyreus went mad for power and abandoned his teammates on the Vortixx homeland. The Vortixx agreed to allow the Toa to remain on Xia in exchange for protection, with Trisuma assuming leadership.
Overtime, Nira began to have doubts about her place in the Toa Xia, beginning when Trisuma exiled their teammate Arctur. After Trisuma attempted to turn Zaria over to the Makuta, the disgusted Nira resigned from the team and departed Xia for parts unknown.

    Core Universe
A De-Matoran living in a village on the Tren Krom Peninsula, Krakua was targeted by the rogue Ta-Matoran Vultraz, who had been sent to capture him by Makuta Gorast. He was rescued by the Ko-Matoran Mazeka and taken to Daxia by the Order of Mata Nui agent Jerbraz. There, Krakua was trained to become an operative of the Order and eventually transformed into a Toa of Sonics.
Five years later, in preparation for the war against the Brotherhood of Makuta, Krakua acted as a liaison between the Order and the Toa as the secret organization prepared to reveal itself after several millennia of secrecy. He accompanied Helryx and Brutaka to Metru Nui and provided Toa Takanuva with the history of the Toa Mata as well as his mission to aid them in awakening the Great Spirit Mata Nui. He was then sent to Voya Nui to recruit Axonn in the war against the Makuta before taking part in the Siege of Metru Nui, where he used his powers to awaken a nest of Bohrok and use them against the Rahkshi.
After Makuta Teridax's reign was brought to an end, Krakua migrated to the reformed Spherus Magna along with his fellow Toa and Order members.
    Empire of Makuta Universe
Several months after the Great Cataclysm, Krakua was given a tablet by his village's leader Darrus. Unbeknownst to Krakua, the tablet contained a map to the mythical island of Artakha. A mere day later, the Northern Continent was invaded by the forces of the Makuta, in search of said map to Artakha. During the invasion, Krakua was captured and interrogated by Makuta Nathuz. Before the Makuta could get the information he desire, the Order of Mata Nui attacked the Brotherhood's camp and Krakua managed to escape in the process. He was later retrieved by the Order agent Viraka and brought to Daxia to be trained by the Order.
Krakua later accompanied Viraka on a mission to Saevta to recruit the warrior  Taurrus. He was later present for the Battle of Metru Nui, which saw to the Makuta's rule over the Great City being brought to an end. At some point, Krakua was transformed into a Toa of Sonics and became well-acquainted with the inhabitants of Kangaro, particularly its Turaga Lesovikk. He also reshaped his Kanohi Suletu into that of a Hau in honor of a friend of his.

History
   Core Universe
Unlike most Toa of Psionics, Orde was created as one of the first Toa by the Great Beings. His first assignment was to use his mental powers to tame the savage Zyglak. However, due to his temper, Orde only made the Zyglak more violent and caused them to become a hostile force across the Matoran Universe. As a result, the Great Beings decided to make all subsequent Matoran and Toa of Psionics female under the belief that they would have a more gentler touch.
For the remainder of his career, Orde stood out among Toa as being the sole male of his kind. At some point he came to lead a Toa Team. During this time, he used his powers to save a dozen Matoran from the Dark Hunters but was unable to avoid his own capture. Only his powers kept him sane through the Dark Hunters' interrogation until his team were able to rescue him from Odina. Orde and his team would later take part in the Toa-Dark Hunter War, during which most of Orde's teammates were killed.
When Makuta Teridax took over the Matoran Universe, Orde joined the resistance against him and participated in the Battle of Bara Magna. After Teridax was defeated and Spherus Magna was reformed by Mata Nui, Orde joined Gelu's team as they set out in search of the Great Beings.
   Empire of Makuta Universe
Having lost his team during the Toa-Dark Hunter War, Orde was an independent agent when he was recruited into the Toa Tenebrae by the Order of Mata Nui, tasked with capturing Karzahni.

   Core Universe
Varian began life as a Ce-Matoran, created by the Great Beings. After aiding in the construction of the Matoran Universe, she was placed on an unknown island where she lived among other Matoran.
At some point in time, Varian received a Toa Stone and was transformed into a Toa of Psionics, eventually joining a Toa team. When Varian and her team were called in to deal with a Protocarin invasion, they joined forces with another Toa team and fended off against the Protocarins and resulting Parakrekk swarm. After the battle, the two Toa teams permanently banded together and Varian became close friends with the Toa of Fire Norik.
Over seven thousand years ago, Varian and Norik were called in to investigate the disappearance of three local Toa. Joining up with a Toa of Sonics named "Grey", Varian and Norik headed into the village and encountered a team of Dark Hunters. After a struggle, the three Toa were captured and brought to their headquarters on Odina. Varian was presented before the Shadowed One, who gave her a choice of which Toa would be allowed to leave. Varian chose Norik over "Grey", who turned out to be the Dark Hunter Triglax. Varian was then placed into a stasis tube and kept in the Shadowed One's chamber as a trophy.
After Makuta Teridax was defeated and Spherus Magna was reformed, Varian's stasis tube was evacuated from the remains of the Matoran Universe.

When the Dark Hunter Shadow Stealer received a call from his ally Shikaiju, he broke into the Shadowed One's chamber and freed Varian from her stasis tube, bringing her to the hidden island of Okoto along with the Toa Tenebrae. As three Toa of Psionics were required to break the seal to Okoto, Shadow Stealer was able to convince Varian to join her powers with Orde and Trisuma.
